Life delivers you amazing people who leave footprints and make an impact on you. One of these meaningful encounters I had was with a gentleman named Lou Faralan, whom I had the pleasure of training with.
He had leukemia and had this concept called ‘Live full, die empty.’ I knew my time with him was limited. I watched him go through pain and suffering that most people wouldn’t be able to handle. However, he was always positive and focused on making an impact on people because he lived by this motto.
No one on their deathbed says, ‘I’m glad I played it safe. I’m glad I didn’t take any risks.’ In the face of death, you find out what truly matters; ultimately, these relationships connecting with people make an impact. So, what could ‘Live full, die empty’ mean for you? Could it be quitting that job? Climbing that mountain? Chasing that goal? Or living that dream?
Because of what he did and how Lou lived, his legacy carries on. He lives through others, even though he’s not here with us today. And I intend to carry that lesson with me every day. I hope you do the same.
